Students complete a series of activities based on a text about Santa.

Santa - elementary

Skills: Reading skills, including predicting content. Students respond to the idea of dressing up and the increasing commercialism of Christmas. Follow-on tasks include designing a poster to stop people buying so many things they don't need.

Santa - upper intermediate

Skills: Reading skills, including brainstorming and summarizing the text in 30 words. Follow-on activities include writing to a newspaper in support of, or against, the idea of banning Father Christmas.

  • I have used the lesson (elem and intermed) in classes from elementary through high school to private language school students - everyone had fun talking about Father Christmas and everyone had something to say about Zenta Claus. thank you.

  • I like this story, it's not the typical Christmas' story, but it has inside a moral question, the real problem of our society: consume.
