Number one for English language teachers

Grammar: Card game for irregular verbs

Pupils practise irregular verbs with games, using short sentences and / or single words in English.

NB: The memory game is easier since the students only have to recognize the verbs and not produce them. The card game is more difficult because a whole sentence has to be produced.

Materials: You will need the card worksheets (see lesson plan) to use this lesson. There are two games: the memory game and the card game.

  • I like these games as it is very boring for students to have to learn the irregular verbs by heart, but for the memory game, is it not possible to make all the cards the same size? I spent ages trimming them so they all look the same when face-down. Thanks all the same.
