Community guidelines

We’ve created these community guidelines to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable time on onestopenglish and feels welcome in our community; we ask you to please always comply with them. We may update these guidelines from time to time, so please read them before posting.

When submitting a comment on onestopenglish and contributing to our Forum, you are accepting our Terms and Conditions; please make sure you read them before posting.

1. Express your opinion

We welcome your opinions and feedback, and we hope you’ll make the most of this space to share ideas with other teachers from all over the world. You can express a strong opinion but please don’t go over the top.

2. Be yourself

Never impersonate another person when contributing to the Forum or posting a comment, even if this isn’t a public figure.

3. Have fun

Comment on our resources, start a conversation in the Forum or take part in an existing one - and invite your friends! The more people that join our community, the richer it’ll become.

4. Remember this is a public website

Once your comment is online, it will be available to anyone with an internet connection, so please consider how your comment could be received by others and avoid posting in a tone that might be considered offensive or inappropriate. Remember that many different types of people of different ages and from all over the world may view your comment.

5. No libel or other abuse

Please don’t swear or engage in disrupting discussions. You must not make or encourage comments which are:

  • defamatory, false or misleading;
  • insulting, threatening or abusive;
  • obscene or of a sexual nature;
  • offensive, racist, sexist, homophobic or discriminatory against any religions or other groups.

If you are offended by the comment of another user or you find it unsuitable, please report this to us through the ’Report’ link below each posting, rather than engaging in a direct confrontation.

6. Stay relevant

Onestopenglish is a community and resource site for English language teachers. While some conversations might be wide-ranging, please make sure your comments aren’t off topic.

7. Don’t spam

Please don’t use the comments or the Forum to promote your website, business or organization, including if this is a non-profit one, or to sell your products. We will remove any commercial and advertising content.

8. Don’t infringe copyright

If you want to upload a copy of an image, text or any other content, make sure you have the right to reproduce them. Posting copyright material without permission may be unlawful.

9. Respect privacy

We strongly advise you not to post any personal information, especially your contact details, directly on the site. To respect privacy, please never post anyone else’s personal details or contact information.

10. Removing inappropriate content

Any comments that violate the letter or spirit of these guidelines or of our Terms and Conditions may be removed. If you are aware that content has been removed, you must not deliberately resubmit the same content.
