Live from London: Christmas

Type: General lesson plan

This is the first of two 'Christmas special' Live from London podcasts. We went to Covent Garden and asked people the question: "What's a typical Christmas for you?"

  • Dear Bodger,
Many thanks for your comment, we're glad you enjoyed the audio. Carol singing to the guitar sounds like a fantastic way to wind up a lesson, too!

  • Found this a super resource. For full understanding the tapescript was necessary so thanks for that. I cut out the miming ideas and stuck them on card to make that a bit more interesting. Accompanied by a few carols to the guitar, this proved to be a very nice lesson.

  • I use Safari as well and it works fine. I take it you are using a Mac? Press ctrl while clicking your mouse, choose download embedded file (I guess that's what it should say in English) and save it wherever you want it. I had no problems with that.
Try downloading the podcast into your iTunes. That works great.

  • With Internet Explorer it works okay.

  • You say "To save the podcast files to your computer, simply right-click on the file and choose the 'Save target as' option."
I couldn't make that work, on this page or any other similar page with audio. I think this is because you're serving the audio file up using a Flash-based player, which doesn't permit the method you describe, at least in the Safari browser.

  • Great idea for a Christmas-themed lesson plan.
I used it with my intermediate level teen class; I had to adapt the exercises and didn't use all the dialogues as they were a little too complex for my students level.
However, it was an invaluable resource, thank you!
