We’ve put together a video for you to use as part of an illness-themed lesson. Get your students’ attention by playing the video as a warmer, and then after a few comprehension questions, ask your students to discuss the same questions in pairs or small groups.

Below, you can find an editable transcript and worksheet with exercises to use with your class along with the video to download and use offline.

  • Where is the MP4? I don’t have a computer to use in class so need to download it onto my phone or IPad.

    Thank you for your comment. The link to the video can be found above, 'Live from London: Common cold: video'. To play it on an iPad, we suggest downloading it to iTunes on your computer and then playing it through that on your iPad.

    To download it on your computer, right click on the video link at the bottom of the page, select 'Save with...', and save the file to your iTunes. Then when you open it on your iPad you should be able to play the video.

    Unfortunately we cannot put these files on YouTube as they are for subscribers of onestopenglish only. If you are relying on Skype and email for your lessons, we would recommend downloading the videos prior to your class and sharing them with your students via WeTransfer or some such service.
