Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week (the week leading up to Easter and the resurrection of Jesus). During Holy Week, Christians remember the last week of Jesus' life. Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem, accompanied by his disciples. He was greeted by a crowd of worshippers, who called 'hosanna' (a Hebrew term meaning 'save us') and scattered palm fronds in his path (hence the name Palm Sunday). The palm crosses also symbolize the cross on which Jesus died. Traditionally, churches commemorate Palm Sunday by holding a procession.
