A short drama activity to test students' comprehension, listening and speaking skills.

I like to engage the student's attention and get them thinking in English by walking into the classroom and acting out a scenario. For example, I could say that I've lost my purse or I might complain about my accommodation or my neighbours. Afterwards, I ask the students to tell me what happened and what they heard. We then discuss the new phrases and vocabulary.

Why do this activity?

This short activity really focuses the students and stops them from going into 'panic mode' when they don't understand every word they hear. It requires no preparation, it suits many different levels and tests the students' comprehension, listening and speaking skills. They especially enjoy watching the teacher's 'acting' performance.
