Anchor Point:34. Downloading the M Tunes resources

M Tunes songs and activities are designed to be downloaded from www.onestopenglish.com to a PC or Mac and to run locally.

Right click on the file link and select 'Save Target As...', then browse to the location where you want to save the file. Once saved, the zip file can be extracted. The songs consist of a Quicktime .mov file, which will run in Quicktime. To install Quicktime, go to www.apple.com/quicktime/download. The activities consist of a Flash executable (.exe) which will run automatically on double-clicking. It is not necessary to have Flash installed as the activities include an integrated Flash player.

Click on the file link and the Quicktime movie (song) or Flash file (activity) will automatically download and extract on to the desktop. It can then be run from there or saved elsewhere.

Anchor Point:45. Troubleshooting tips

Problem: Files take ages to download
Possible cause: This could be because you have a slow Internet connection. It is estimated that a 30MB file will take about 1 hour 15 minutes to download using a 56K modem connection, compared to 2 minutes using a typical (1MB) broadband connection.
Solution: Download the files when you're away from your desk, or download using a broadband connection.

Problem: Songs or activities run slowly
Possible cause: This could be because other programs are running.
Solution: Make sure no other programs are running. For optimum performance, quit any programs that are running before running the M Tunes resources.

Problem: The songs don't play properly in Quicktime 7
Possible cause: There is a known issue in Qucktime 7.1.3 which does not play certain elements of Flash unless a setting is optimized.
Solution: Change Quicktime's system preferences as follows: System Preferences->QuickTime->Advanced-(check box to enable) Flash. Alternatively, install a more recent version of Quicktime.

Problem: Graphics freeze or text boxes appear blank
Possible cause: Graphics card acceleration too high.
Solution: Right-click on "My Computer". Click on "Properties" and then on the "Performance" tab. Click on the "Graphics" button. Click and drag the hardware acceleration slider to "None". Finally, restart your computer.

Problem: Graphics do not load or are poor quality
Possible cause: There is not enough memory available.
Solution: Quit any other programs that may be running.
