This is particularly good for learners who arrive for a lesson in a hurry and full of other concerns, and benefit from having a few quiet moments to switch into English and re-establish a positive attitude towards the language.

Procedure

Give the class a bit of silent thinking time and ask them to recall at least one English word, phrase or sentence that they've seen, heard, used or thought of since the last lesson (or during the last week, etc.) and that they've particularly liked. They can be 'new' bits of English encountered for the first time, but don't have to be. If they can recall more than one, so much the better. Then simply ask them to share their bits of English – with a partner, or with a small group, or with the whole class - and say when and where they encountered them and why they liked them.
