Number one for English language teachers

A Time to Travel: USA: Slaves no more

Amber journeys back in time to meet Abraham Lincoln and show him how his desire to pass the 13th Amendment changed the course of American history forever. In this lesson, students will: learn about Abraham Lincoln, slavery and black American history; practise extensive and intensive listening and a range of listening sub-skills, including listening for specific information and listening for detail; learn a range of language related to the end of slavery and consolidate this language with a collaborative writing task.

  • Hey Web Editor,

I was on a Mac at home but it worked fine on the PC in school. Thanks for getting back to me!

  • Hi Shellbville, sorry to hear you're having problems with track 2. I've just tested it out on my PC and it works fine at this end. Are you on a PC or a Mac? Have you tried downloading the file instead of using the online player? Let me know if you'd like me to email it over to you, as an alternative.

  • Is there a problem with Track 2? It keeps repeating the first minute of dialogue and won't play to the end...

  • The audio files here are standard mp3 files but the button brings up a flash bar which is not supported by Apple. If you can download the mp3s then you should be able to play them, if you have a media player installed. We've downloaded and played audio files on an iPad using QuickTime. I hope this is helpful, but if you have any further problems please do not hesitate to contact us.
