Number one for English language teachers

A Time to Travel: Knights of the Round Table

Amber travels back to the time of the legendary King Arthur and finds herself caught up in a thrilling quest to return Excalibur, Arthur’s sword, to Camelot Castle and the king himself. Will she and Sir Lancelot escape the dragon and the evil sorceress Morgana?

In this lesson, students will: learn about the legend of King Arthur; practise extensive and intensive listening and a range of listening sub-skills; practise decision-making in groups to choose the outcome of the story as it unfolds; learn a range of language related to myths, magic and fantasy, and consolidate some of this language in a final puzzle task.

  • Thanks for this fabulous lesson! I used it during a one to one lesson. My student is 22 years old and we both enjoyed it very much! I've adapted the lesson a little bit as at the beginning of the lesson I've used some historical facts/myths to set the scene and this got my student's attention straight away. If you can make more of these listening mazes that would be great as they are really exciting! Thanks again for this wonderful resource. All the best, Johanna

  • Thanks for your comment Teachlove86. This series is aimed at younger teens, but we do think some of the lessons could be adapted for slightly older learners. Let us know how you get on using the lesson with your students - and whether they chose the correct path!

  • I think it's great for the 12+ crowd, but maybe not for my 16-17, 18 year olds. :-S But, my 14 year olds should love it! Thanks!
