Reading lesson plans: Alcohol

Level: Elementary, Upper intermediate Print material

Students complete a series of activities based on a text about alcohol.

Alcohol - Elementary

Skills: Reading skills including completing a table and a jigsaw reading with speaking. Also follow on activities for more speaking.

Alcohol - Upper-intermediate

Skills: Reading skills including ordering the process for distillation and a matching exercise. Follow on activities focus on vocabulary and structure.

Please note: The subject of alcohol may be considered inappropriate for some adult classes. However, as a global topic it is by no means exclusive: 3 Arab countries are referred to as well as the fact that the word alcohol is of Arabic origin. We would advise teachers to approach this reading sensitively and not to attempt it with students they don't know.
