Lynda
I was in Siem Reap about 3 years ago. There is a large indoor market where you can buy EFL and ESOL books. I can't remember what they had, but they were very cheap. It's a large market where you can buy all sorts of stuff, watches, clothes hardware etc. The trouble is that I can't remember whatit's called but it's on the way out of town.

Hope that helps. I know how depressed I was when I saw the squalid conditions that some of the families are living in. Compared to the luxury hotels springing up around Ankor it.s enough to want to make you throw up.

Keep going

I don't know how far your preps have got, but a good fall back piece of equipment to take is a box of 'Cuisinaire Rods'. You can adapt them to suit almost any situation and they give an excellent visual focus too.
Good luck

A very special place

Hi Lynda,
I'm sending words of support and encouragement here, rather than any practical tips, I'm afraid. I did a charity bike ride in Cambodia last year, raising funds for a street children's project in Shianoukville (M'Lop Tapang). The ride took in Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, Takeo and Shianoukville, among many other tiny places. The danger and vulnerability these street children face is very acute indeed, and I support your observation in how the people are very keen to learn and move forward. I hope to return to Cambodia one day, and in the meantime I send you a lot of strength. You have a big job ahead of you!
Lisa
