  • Hi blacklilly,

We've got a couple of Macmillan TOEFL prep books you might like to see. I've pasted in the urls below:

  • On the topic of TOEFL in general, why are there no decent textbooks aimed at TOEFL, be it the ITP or the CBT? For IELTS there is a great range of well-developed textbooks to choose from, but for TOEFL ITP and CBT tests ETS only provides 600-page books of tests and pretty much everything else on offer follows a similar pattern. While this may be great for students who are happy to complete a book of test questions, for those of us tasked with teaching TOEFL and who MUST use a "textbook", there is very little in the way of choice. I usually make my own materials for reading and grammar tasks but it would be nice to have a proper coursebook which is well-developed and engaging to use in such situations.

  • Hi Adrienne,

Thanks for your feedback. This specific resource offers advice on the listening paper but requires the teacher to use separate listening resources. We are aware of the feedback regarding more authentic TOEFL materials and the requests have been sent to the publishing team.

    Kind regards,
    The onestopenglish team

  • Hello,
I was wondering how to access the audio file just to discover that there isn't any, seems strange when it's a listening activity!!
It's a pity because you make good suggestions.

  • Hi Denise,

Thank you for your comments and sorry to hear that you are not happy. As mentioned below, we have no immediate plans to publish any new material for the TOEFL exams, which is why this material is readily available for free.

Macmillan does provide online practice materials which you can find here:

    http://www.macmillanpracticeonline.com/exam-practice/toefl-preparation-online

However, please note that these resources are not free.

Regarding your audio files problems, can you be more specific? It would be useful to know some details so we can help solve your problem.

    Best wishes

  • 4 years since this was originally posted and we still have only one resource for teaching TOEFL on the site. That´s very poor!

  • I would like to add my dismay at the poor offering of Toefl material here, considering the importance of the exam for so many students, it is astonishing that onestopenglish have not seen fit to provide more material.
