Anecdote: Make yourself at home

Type: Anecdote

One of Bridget Mary Schoebi’s students takes ‘hospitality’ to a whole new level.

I asked my students to imagine they would swap their house or flat with somebody who didn't know their place.

One of the students gave a very good description of the shops in the village and where it's most convenient to buy what. Her guests could also get some salad and vegetables from the garden. At the end she added, "… and please eat the cat!"

Of course, this was just a little confusion between feed and eat, but she narrowly escaped a tragedy on her return home - another illustration of the power of words and the importance of choosing the right one!
