Anecdote: Chicken dog

Type: Anecdote

One day I was telling my ESL students a story about a snake skin I found in my basement. I brought in the snake skin to show them while I was telling the story. I tell a lot of stories about my family and home in class. The students were as surprised as I was that I had a snake in my basement. One student said " Why didn't your dog smell the snake and try to find it?" I replied " My dog, oh no, my dog is a CHICKEN!" The looks on their faces were priceless. They said " Your dog is a chicken???" and laughed picturing it. Obviously, I had to explain the other meaning of the word chicken to them. They laughed about it often, and two years later, some students still ask about my dog the chicken!
