Anecdote: A word with consequences

Type: Anecdote

Some years ago I was new teacher in a primary school with 24 rather noisy children. They were making buildings from the stone age made with small balls of burned clay. In this English lesson a lot of the boys were playing with these clay-balls. Suddenly I'd had enough and in an angry tone I told the children to throw these balls up to me! - They did, about 100 balls were thrown after me, they hit me, the blackboard etc. I was a terrible mess, but I couldn't help laughing it was my own fault, I'd told them to throw it!
