Number one for English language teachers

Anecdote: Hot male

Type: Anecdote

Andrew Donelan tells us how an unfortunate spelling mistake occurred when using the internet with a class.

I was teaching a class of students with computers and had shown them the differences between formal and informal writing styles.

To put this into practice I asked the students to write an email to each other about what they did last weekend. The majority didn't have email addresses so I suggested that the whole class logged on to hotmail.com.

Unfortunately, over half the class typed in HOTMALE.COM and were looking at ...  ... well I am sure you can imagine what they were looking at!

Damned homophones!
