Anecdote: A business plan

Type: Anecdote

Nina Dobrynina shares her winning anecdote about a demanding Business English student.

One of my colleagues - a teacher of Business English - called me some days ago to share her opinion of a new class with a businessman working for a powerful and profitable company. She told me that the first few minutes of the introductory part of the class were more or less usual: greetings, clarifying the goals and discussing the preliminary programme of studies. However, ten minutes later the conversation changed direction. The student looked at the teacher in a serious way and said, 'I'd like you to prepare a business plan of learning English'. As my colleague seemed a bit puzzled, he decided to persuade her and added, 'I won't do my homework until it's ready.'
